Wow. The past couple of weeks sure have been a whirlwind! With Bye Bye Birdie rehearsals and work, I have been one busy girl! Now that the show is actually starting (opening night is TODAY!) my life is just starting to wind down a bit.
Being my first show at The Center for the Arts, I didn't know anyone going into this show. I felt so left out at the beginning of rehearsals because everyone knew each other already! But now that I've had the whole summer to get to know these people, I'm so proud to say that I have made many lasting friendships.
If you have ever been in any type of theater setting, then you have experienced the unity and family that comes with it. Many times, your theater family is the only group of people you see day to day. I have become closer with some of these kids in just a few months than I have with some of my other friends over the years. We have become the "gang", the "blood sisters", the "harpies" and the "groupies", and I never want it to end.
But everything ends, and almost as if to kill two birds with one stone, our last show date also marks the end of Summer.
This may sound weird, but I feel like my heart breaks every time a show ends. It's the ending of fun, of familiar songs, of inside jokes, of family.
But let's not think about that yet.
It's just the beginning.
till the overture ends,
lindsey.
